Paper Recycling FAQ
To briefly answer this question, paper is first collected and sorted, cleaned of other substances (like plastic, metal and others), shredded, mixed with water to make a slurry, then ink is removed and depending on the purpose of recycling, bleaching may be done. New paper can then be produced with the addition of cellulose.
Paper comes in various grades: newsprint for newspapers, cardboard for packaging, cardstock for cards, writing paper for offices, tissue for wrapping, Kraft for strength, specialty for unique needs, coated for smooth printing, carbonless for copies, and thermal for heat-reactive uses.
